At ABTechnology we take a proactive approach to solving our clients' problems. We have a range of skills at our disposal, both in-house and through our network of strategic partners that ensures we can fully implement a solution.
ABT has two strategic partners:
- Wood Group is an international contracting organisation providing technically and commercially innovative solutions for the management, operations, maintenance, engineering, design, modification and decommissioning of offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities. Wood Group, through it's Wood Group PSN division, will be providing project management, engineering, operational and maintenance services to ABT, including duty holding where appropriate.
[NOTE: Wood Group is an international energy services company with $5.5bn sales, employing more than 34,000 people worldwide and operating in 50 countries. The Group has three businesses - Engineering, Wood Group PSN and Gas Turbine Services - providing a range of engineering, production support, maintenance management and industrial gas turbine overhaul and repair services to the oil & gas and power generation industries worldwide.]
- Ocean Energy and Resource Limited (ORL). ORL specialise in offshore, subsea and ocean engineering, and have extensive experience in the design and engineering of buoy technology. Through our partnership with ORL we are able to supply services including design, engineering, project management, installation, and commissioning of buoys and associated technology.
Our relationship with ORL includes an exclusive worldwide licence for their buoy technology, which is protected by a number of patents.
ORL has a strong track record in the field of buoy design and engineering. They have designed, developed and installed the following buoys, currently in service:
- BGS Data Buoys – In total ORL have supplied 9 BGS Data Buoys, to clients including the UK Department of Energy and NERC. These buoys weigh around 150 tonnes and are used for data acquisition. The scope of work on these buoys was to design, build and supply, install and maintain.
- East Spar Buoy – ORL supplied this buoy to the East Spar Alliance (Western Mining, Clough Engineering, Kvaerner Australia) for use in North West Australia. The buoy is a field control buoy with a 900 tonne displacement. The scope of work for ORL was to conduct feasibility studies, design the buoy and associated seabed MEG storage, and supply ongoing maintenance and operations advice.
- Radar Surveillance Buoy – This buoy was supplied to the United Kingdom Department of Trade and Industry, for use between 1997 and 1998. The buoy had a 185 tonne displacement, and was used for surveillance purposes. The scope of work was to design, build and supply, install, operate and remove.
- Mossgas E-M Field – Dresser-Kellogg (Mossgass Pty) commissioned this buoy in 1998 to control their field of the coast of South Africa. The buoy has a 950 tonne displacement, and the scope of work on the project was to scope a FEED Study, complete the design, and supply construction support.
- Mobil Zafiro Taut-moored Flare Buoy – This buoy was supplied for ExxonMobil for between 1997 and 1998. The buoy was a 225 tonne displacement remote flaring buoy, and the scope of work was to design, build and supply.
- CNR Buoy – This buoy had a displacement of 1150 tonnes. It was commissioned by CNR UK Ltd via Monitor Oil Plc in 1995. The buoy is a 4.2 MW Power and Control Buoy, and the scope of work was to conduct feasibility studies and complete the design.
Through these partnerships ABT is able to provide all the expertise required to deliver the buoy solution right throughout the lifecycle of the solution:
- Design and Engineering: our expertise covers both the design and engineering of the buoy and the overall solution through our partners
- Economics: we have the in-house capability to evaluate your assets and build economic models to demonstrate how they may be optimally utilised. Our bespoke economic modelling tools can take into account water depth, field location, recoverable reserves and production rate in conjunction with the capital and operational expenditure necessary for production in order to produce a detailed report to support decision making.
- Risk: our in-house risk consulting team are able to handle all your needs including conducting quantitative risk assessments, writing safety cases and other supporting safety studies. Our approach is to wherever possible utilise quantitative techniques to assess risk, in order to provide structured information to assist decision making.
- Implementation and Delivery: Through our partnership with Wood Group we are able to ensure that any project is implemented and delivered who have extensive experience in delivering all manner of offshore solutions.
- Operations, Maintenance and Dutyholdership: Again, our partnership with Wood Group ensures that the full life-cycle of the solution can be delivered.
