Buoy Applications
Oil Production BuoyThis application of the buoy sees the buoy equipped with an oil separator on board which separates produced oil which is then stored in the gravity base and exported via shuttle tanker. This opens up fields where the costs associated with conventional extraction methods would make production uneconomic. |
Grid Power Generating BuoyThe grid power generation buoy utilises an innovative technology titled Gas2Wire. This involves the burning of produced gas to generate electricity on board the buoy. The electricity can then be exported via cable much more economically than the gas could be by pipeline. |
|
Gas Production BuoyIn a similar vein to the oil production buoy this application contains processing equipment for the gas. This separates the Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) from the gas and enables the export of the gas. |
Power Substation BuoyThe power substation buoy is designed to act as a substation to groups of offshore energy generating units. The buoy can be linked to either renewable sources (wave, wind, tidal) or groups of grid power generation buoys. |
|
Injection BuoyThe injection buoy is fitted with equipment for injecting water or gas to maintain reservoir pressure, or chemicals for process fluid modification. |
Control BuoyThe control buoy is fitted out with the equipment necessary to control subsea production or process facilities. |
|
Power Generating BuoyThe power generating buoy is fitted with generator units to supply electrical power to seabed processing facilities, downhole pumps etc. It can also be adapted to provide hydraulic power to submersible hydraulic pumps. |
